Fire & "ICE"land

The reason for hereness seems beyond conjecture,
There are no trees or trains, or architecture,
Fruits and greens are insufficient for health,
And culture is limited by lack of wealth,
The tourist sights have nothing like Stonehenge,
The literature is all about revenge,
And yet I like it if only because this nation
Enjoys a scarcity of population.
W.H. Auden, Letters from Iceland

Yes, Iceland has come aways since the English poet Auden penned these descriptive lines in 1936- from an isolated agricultural society that many people thought had scarcely progressed behind the Middle Ages- they say has emerged a high tech welfare state- and catch this, with one of the highest standard of living in the world.  Population 322,000.  Yup,  meaning plenty of wilderness- should be a hit with Bubs.

Are we talking the ultimate nature trip?  No pollution; all energy is either geothermal or hydroelectric, the drinking water comes from pure glaciers, fish from unpolluted waters and even the lambs and cows graze in fields untouched by fertilizer.  Sounds like a tree huggers paradise.  Iceland is one of the youngest landmasses in the world geologically speaking and as a result, its inhabitants are used to living with change and disruption.  Really sounds like a place for Bubba as he has had practice for 41 years.  They say the people who live on this extraordinary island are an eccentric breed.  Boca is anticipating fun with this crowd.
